US Federal Sites Mobile Accessibility

President Obama has announced that all major government agencies are mandated to provide at least two of their key services in an accessible form for mobile devices by 2013.

After passage of the 21st Century Communication and Video Accessibility Act, President Obama made remarks that it was only the beginning of accessibility change. He has kept his word and is now setting his sights on one of the fastest growing market, mobile accessibility. The President stated, “It is time for the Federal government to do more. For far too long, the American people have been forced to navigate a labyrinth of information across different government programs in order to find the services they need”.

The United States Disability committee has estimated that by 2015, more people will be using their phones for the Internet then desktop computers. With this in mind, President Obama has planned ahead and hopes to be ready for this change in consumer behavior.
