Minister of Human Resources and Skills Development, Diane Finley, was quoted as saying, “This call for proposals provides us with an opportunity to further demonstrate our commitment to remove obstacles by supporting not-for-profit organizations in their efforts to strengthen the social and economic inclusion of Canadians with disabilities.” She went on to say, “This new year ahead will create many new opportunities, which we hope these organizations will use to better our country as a whole”.
The organizations that are selected will be rewarded $250,000 per year, for up to three years. In return, they will be asked to create projects pertaining to active living, accessibility, vulnerable populations, and increasing awareness of disability-related issues. Organizations can submit proposals to be accepted into this program until August 17, 2012.
