Where Should You Start with Web Accessibility Fixes? Somewhere.

Feb 26, 2019

It's almost always true that the sooner you incorporate accessibility into your website and app plans, the easier it will be to create accessible experiences for your customers. So, what if your digital presence is already fully-built and hasn't been designed with accessibility in mind? Is it too late? Where can you even start to make your site more accessible?

Start somewhere to improve your website's accessibility

Perhaps you've just recently become aware that your website should be accessible to people with disabilities, or you've wanted to take steps toward accessibility but didn't know where to start. Here's a nudge.

Don't fail to do anything because you can't do everything

This can be said a number of ways, but if you can't make your site perfect right away, don't let that stop you from doing what you can do. Yes, there are aspects of digital accessibility that are technical, complex, and require the guidance of experts, but there are also things you can start understanding and improving on your own.

Get a sense of the current state of your website's accessibility

It's hard to figure out where you want to go if you don't know where you are. We offer a free, always confidential graded accessibility report of your website, generated by our powerful a11y® analysis platform. Artificial intelligence will scan your website and identify failed WCAG 2.1 checkpoints. This is a great starting point for getting an understanding of how your site fares.

There are also some quick and easy tests you can perform yourself right now.
