The Selby District Disability Forum (SDDF) has been sponsored as a community effort to make a change for those members of society that are rarely represented. Joe Lennon, Chairman of the SDDF, was quoted as saying, “So often persons with disabilities will feel they are isolated and the struggle to challenge large authorities and services can prove too much for them. (The SDDF) is a completely positive move. It could address major issues for people, which could cost nothing to change."
The first few days of the project have looked very promising, as there has been an increase in disability awareness, and numerous changes in the community. Whether the discussions are as large as Web accessibility, or as small as changing to a certain type of cup in hospitals, individuals are working together under the common purpose of bettering society.
