UK Campaign to Help Four Million People

Go ON Gold is a new nationwide campaign backed by the BBC, Age UK, Royal National Institute of the Blind, Paralympic athletes, and the Post Office to help the four million persons with disabilities gain access to the Internet for the first time.

Martha Lane-Fox, the government’s digital champion was quoted as saying, “Disability often leads to a lack of independence and social isolation. Full access to the Internet can be hugely empowering and even transformative for people with disabilities, whose mobility may be compromised or who lack the resources to get out and about as much as they would like”.

Lane-Fox went on to say, “Digital inclusion can be life changing – socially, psychologically and economically. In front of the screen, we can all be equal and Go ON Gold is set to make this a reality.”

The campaign will be a huge undertaking, but through video interviews, training sessions, as well as support from the private sector, the four million people task is accomplishable. As the campaign devotes itself to giving these disabled individuals the support that they need to access the Internet, and the information within, it’s clear that Go ON Gold, is truly a noble initiative.
