The project is part of the federally funded Accessibility and Innovation Initiative to have Federal agencies become more aware of accessibility achievements in society, and implementation of such accessibility in these agencies organizational structure. The nominees are awarded based on the contributions of individuals & organizations, in the public & private sector, whom have made communication easier through creation of mainstream assistive technologies, accessibility practices, or new products and services in any disability related field.
The award winners will be selected by the Chairman from seven different categories: Education, Deaf-Blind Solutions, Video Programming Device Solutions, Geo-location Solutions, Mobile Apps, Consumer Empowerment Information, and Civic participation Solutions.
The nominations are open to the public, and the end date will be July 31, 2012.
